Welcome to Mamma Amelia, an enchanting Italian café nestled at 120 King's Rd in the heart of Harrogate. This charming spot radiates warmth and a familial atmosphere, making it an ideal retreat for those craving an authentic taste of Italy away from the bustling town centre.

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the delightful aromas of freshly brewed coffee and homemade dishes, perfectly prepared by the passionate team led by the amiable owners. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with quaint outdoor tables that call for leisurely afternoons under the Yorkshire sunshine.

Mamma Amelia's menu is a tapestry of traditional Italian delights, encompassing delicious homemade savoury dishes and mouthwatering desserts that are sure to evoke nostalgic memories of Italy. Sip on a rich, velvety cappuccino that delights your senses, leaving you craving just one more sip. Their hot chocolate, although not quite a mousse, receives rave reviews for its indulgent texture that allows you to savor each lingering chocolatey bite—just ask Simon Womersley, who's enjoyed scooping every last morsel!

The culinary experience here is truly elevated by standout offerings such as scrumptious paninis, delectable warm spinach pie, and hearty meatballs served on focaccia—a recommended favorite for many delighted customers. And if you find yourself in search of dessert, the tiramisu has drawn rave reviews, described as possibly the best outside of Italy itself, leaving patrons such as Olga Whiting completely enamored.

It's not just the food that makes Mamma Amelia special; it's the spirit of hospitality that envelops you as soon as you walk through the door. As J K beautifully puts it, “Great people and really honest, authentic and tasty food.” Whether you're seeking a quick coffee fix or a relaxing meal with loved ones, you'll find yourself embraced by the genuine warmth of the staff and the inviting ambiance.

After a long day of travel, as Megan Lane discovered, Mamma Amelia provides the perfect refuge—a place to unwind with a slice of their exquisite berry polenta cake while soaking in the charm of this beloved local institution. The praise doesn't end with the splendid food, as numerous patrons rave about the coffee, noting it among the best in Harrogate.

So, whether you stop in for a quick bite or decide to linger awhile, Mamma Amelia promises a rich experience steeped in Italian tradition that will surely leave you smiling and coming back for more. After all, as Stephen Hudson says, it’s “a piece of Amalfi in the Yorkshire sunshine!”

A lovely little Italian cafe, just out of the town centre. The staff are wonderful people, serving the most beautiful coffee, traditional, homemade Italian savoury dishes, as well as homemade cakes and desserts.

Not sure how many cafes sell hot chocolates, where your teaspoon stands to attention. Hot chocolate not quite firm enough to be a chocolate mousse, but pretty close. Managed to scoop all the chocolate at the end.

If you are looking for the best food and desserts in Harrogate, come here. I am fussy and hard to please, so glad we found Mamma Amelia, as pretty much every other place was just a disappointment. They will also cook delicious meals for you to take home. And as for tiramisu, that's the best I have ever had outside Italy (my boyfriend says the best he has ever had INCLUDING Italy )

Lovely cafe. Arrived in Harrogate after a long day of travel and ventured out in search of a coffee. I was drawn in by Mamma Amelia’s cute little outdoor tables and family atmosphere. I had a cappuccino and a slice of cake (I think it was berry polenta). Both were lovely. The staff were very friendly and polite. I hope to come here again before the conclusion of my trip!

Lovely place. Great people and really honest, authentic and tasty food. The coffee is fabulous. We love the paninis and the warm spinach pie. The croissants/cornettos are fresh and soft.

We were warmly greeted by Will and Paulina when we entered this delightful cafe. The space is nice and warm and cosy with a lovely atmosphere. The coffee was amazing, perfect cappuccino. I was quite hungry and Will recommended meatballs on focaccia, it was delicious. I thoroughly recommend this little pocket of awesomeness to anyone who appreciates a nice chilled eatery and great quality food.

Coffee Only Review... Hard to decide whether or Cafe Lago di Como (another italian) serve Harrogate's best coffee; either way its fantastic. Very authentic bijou Italian; popular with locals, charming owner. Not great seats, but its not a place to linger.
